The Alchemist appeared on The Breakfast Club on Wednesday (Feb. 12) to promote his new album Life Is Beautiful featuring Larry June and 2 Chainz. During the interview, he shared exciting news about unreleased Mobb Deep tracks, praising the late Prodigy’s work ethic and lyrical abilities.

“They did so much work, it was insane,” he said, reflecting on the legendary duo’s unreleased material. “You could peel back layers in Prodigy’s rhymes. He was ahead of his time. Their discography is unmatched. P’s legend lives. He did more than the average person while he was here, and he left behind so much, so we’re lucky enough to be working on a new Mobb Deep project.”

The Alchemist revealed that he and Havoc have been handling production duties for the project, with Nas also contributing. “It’s me and Hav doing the beats. Nas is involved. It feels great just to hear his voice again. We missed it. It’s a void not hearing his voice anymore.”

In another part of the interview, The Alchemist discussed his involvement in the ongoing Kendrick Lamar and Drake feud. “It happens a lot to me,” he said about rappers using his beats for diss tracks. “I try to tell rappers I’m Switzerland — leave me out of it — but they end up making me the battleground. I’m indifferent to it. I don’t have a dog in the fight, I make beats.”

2 Chainz also addressed being name-dropped in Kendrick’s song “Not Like Us,” where Kendrick rapped, “Chainz say you good, but he lied.” The Atlanta rapper brushed it off as creative wordplay.
