In the heart of New York City, where dreams are as vast as the skyline, Michelle Renee's journey stands out—a testament to resilience, passion, and unwavering determination. Michelle is the reigning Mrs. Manhattan US Nation 2025 titleholder.

A Stitch in Time: Crafting a Career in Fashion

Michelle's affinity for fashion was nurtured from a young age. At eight, she began altering her ill-fitting Catholic school uniforms under the guidance of her mother and grandmother, both skilled tailors from Croatia. This early introduction to tailoring ignited a passion that would shape her future.

Venturing to New York City alone, Michelle enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) to pursue fashion design. Financial constraints led her to seek full-time employment after her first semester. Demonstrating remarkable initiative, she assembled a portfolio and secured a position as an Assistant Fashion Designer. Balancing two jobs, she transitioned to part-time evening classes at FIT, showcasing her dedication and tenacity.

Her career trajectory soared as she took on roles with renowned brands, including J.Crew, Alexander Julian, Calvin Klein, Boston Trading Company, and Ann Taylor Loft. A significant chapter unfolded during her nearly 15-year tenure at Brooks Brothers, where she honed her expertise in men's tailored suiting, womenswear, and children's clothing. Subsequently, at Hudson Bay Company, Michelle served as a Senior Technical Designer for menswear, contributing to brands like Saks Fifth Avenue, Saks Off Fifth, Lord & Taylor, and Hudson Bay stores across Canada.

Triumph Over Trials: A Testament to Resilience

Michelle's journey was punctuated by formidable challenges. A three-time cancer survivor, she attributes her success to an indomitable spirit and an unwavering will to live and achieve her dreams.

In January 2019, a severe car accident resulted in multiple injuries, including a broken hip, spinal damage, and nerve impairments. Undeterred, Michelle committed herself to rigorous physical therapy, embodying her belief that perseverance can overcome even the most daunting obstacles.

Embracing the Runway: A Dream Realized

Long self-conscious about her curvy physique, Michelle found solace and empowerment in the evolving fashion industry's embrace of diverse body types. Realizing a lifelong dream, she stepped onto the runway, modeling for designers who celebrate inclusivity. Her participation in events like Super Chic New York and Milan Fashion Week underscores her commitment to representing women of all shapes and sizes.

Inspiring Others: A Mission Beyond Modeling

Beyond the glitz of fashion and pageantry, Michelle leverages her platform to inspire women facing adversity. Her message is clear: with determination and resilience, any dream is attainable. As she prepares for the Mrs. New York US Nation 2025 pageant in June of 2025 where she will compete for the state crown - Michelle continues to advocate for empowerment and self-belief.
