Country singer-songwriter Lainey Wilson and her boyfriend Devlin “Duck” Hodges are officially engaged!
On February 12, both Wilson and Hodges shared a carousel of Instagram photos, with Wilson proudly displaying her engagement ring. The couple captioned the post “4x4xU forever,” referencing their relationship and Wilson’s current top-five Billboard Country Airplay hit, “4x4xU.”
One photo captures the couple standing on a front porch, surrounded by roses, candles, and framed pictures of the two of them. Wilson, visibly surprised and happy, has her face in her hands, while Hodges grins ear to ear. Another shot shows them sharing a kiss. The post ends with a video of Wilson, dressed in a dark red coat, walking down a staircase, flashing her dazzling engagement ring and giving the camera a smile.
Wilson and Hodges, who began dating in 2021, made their red-carpet debut at the 2023 ACM Awards. Hodges, a former Pittsburgh Steelers player, has been an inspiration for some of the love songs on Wilson’s latest album, Whirlwind, including “4x4xU” and “Counting Chickens.”
In an interview with Billboard last year, Wilson expressed her gratitude for Hodges’ unwavering support. “Thankfully, I have found a man who is so happy that he’s with a lady who can do her own thing. He’s just my cheerleader. He makes it real easy, and it’s fun to share this part of my life with him,” she said.
Wilson had previously joked about waiting for Hodges to pop the question, saying in an interview with Bunnie XO for CMT, “No pressure, brother! No pressure. I might have to propose to him. We’re waiting!”
Wilson has been busy with a successful career over the last couple of years. In 2023, she headlined her Country’s Cool Again Tour, won a Grammy for Best Country Album (Bell Bottom Country), and was named Entertainer of the Year by both the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music. This year, she’s preparing for her Whirlwind headlining tour, set to begin in March and run through November.
