Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars are quickly establishing themselves as one of music’s most exciting duos.
At the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, the two superstars mesmerized the audience with a breathtaking cover of The Mamas & the Papas’ California Dreamin’.
With Los Angeles still reeling from the devastating wildfires earlier this month, the awards ceremony took a heartfelt turn, honoring first responders and families who had lost everything. Many performances throughout the night reflected this theme. For the occasion, Lady Gaga donned a flowing, ’70s-inspired white floral maxi dress, while Bruno Mars exuded charm in a tan suit and matching cowboy hat.
This isn’t their first time joining forces. Their surprise duet, Die With a Smile, has dominated radio and streaming charts since its release last year.
Reflecting on their collaboration, Gaga told the Los Angeles Times that she knew instantly Die With a Smile was a song she had to record.
“It was the lyrics—the idea of a song about what we would do if the world was ending,” she shared. “I just remember thinking this was something people needed to hear. I write music all the time, and sometimes you hope a song connects. But other times, you just know it will resonate with all kinds of people. I felt that immediately.”
