President Joe Biden is reaffirming his support for Vice President Kamala Harris following her election loss.

Two days after Republican Donald Trump was declared the winner and after hearing Harris’s emotional concession speech, Biden shared a brief but heartfelt statement on the matter.

“Vice President @KamalaHarris ran an inspiring campaign that showed everyone something I learned early on: She has a backbone like a ramrod and great character. True character,” he wrote on his social media accounts. “She gave her whole heart and effort, and she and her entire team should be proud.”

Biden, who had initially planned to run for reelection against Trump this year, gracefully dropped out of the race in July following numerous calls from within his own party. He quickly endorsed Harris as his successor.

“My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as president for the remainder of my term,” he shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter) at the time.

“My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my vice president. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats—it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this,” he added.

During the Biden-Harris administration, the duo made significant strides in areas such as immigration, climate change, the economy, and student loan forgiveness.
